  1. Hedge-Schools
    About 100 years ago. There was a school where the present Catholic Church of New Inn stands. The old chapel which was then built there was used also as a school as well as for religious purposes. There were wooden seats around by the walls inside on which the pupils used to sit. The rest of the Chapel outside the Sanctuary was bare except for forms reserved for the police & pews for the richer people.
    The teachers name was Melody and later on a man named Sheridan taught there. They used to lodge for
