Over 100 years of school attendance records
Roll books from Esker, Garafine and Liscune National Schools. Liscune’s Roll Books date back to 1916.The Daily Attendance Book (Leabhar Tinrimh) also known as the School Roll Book was available to consult. Names were recorded in Irish and written with pen and ink. Every morning the teacher called out the name of each pupil and if present you had to reply loud and clear ‘Anseo’ in Irish (translated as ‘present’).
