The Goldfinch is a showy bird with black, white and dandy plumage. It has bright red on its face and a yellow wing patch. It is a bird of the open country and feeds on the seeds of thistles and other wayside plants. They are regular visitors to bird-feeders where they are noted to be territorial in fending off the feeder from other birds.
