Beloved of Christmas cards, every adult and child in Ireland can surely recognize the robin! The bird can become quite tame and has been known to follow the spade worker as it waits in anticipation for worms in the freshly dug earth. It has warm brown upper parts and a bright orange-red face and breast. Unlike many birds, the robin will maintain a territory year round and can be heard singing at any time of the year.
