Safe in Woodlawn House
Silver stored in basement
B. Doherty
The basement of Woodlawn House was once a hub of activity. The plans of the basement (Woodlawn – A History, Pages 80 & 81) show the layout of the basement and the rooms labelled include the pantry, store room, knife room, lumber room, and still room, An area now sparse and bare once thrived with industry.
Safe
In one room off the main corridor a storage press was noted. This is the safe in which the ‘good silver’ was kept. The silver would have been used for dining with special guests. Silver was kept under lock and key and not on show.
