Grocock’s Castle (Recorded Monument GA086:249) is part of the folly entrance to Woodlawn House. It is also known as Grant’s Castle, and Grucock’s. It is located along the New Inn – Ballinasloe Road R348 and to the south east of Woodlawn House. C15th – C16th windows are re-used here. The first picture depicts an ogee style window opening. Constructed c. 1850 as a faux tower house. This was inhabited by the gatekeeper, Stephen Grant and then his family until 1935.
