Teresa Kelly has kindly summarised her mother in the following beautiful tribute..

Nora Cooney would have been assisted at the birth of her children by Nurse Sweeney:

“My mother was a remarkable woman giving birth to fourteen healthy
babies. We were like the steps of the stairs. She was blessed with good
health and a happy go lucky attitude to life. No doubt life wasn’t easy in
those days with very few modern conveniences. She made the best of
what she had and shared it with others. She loved each baby as they
came along and loved nothing more than having them in her arms and
singing to them. In later years her grandchildren were treated the same.
Her eyes would light up when they visited her.
Mam had great faith, which sustained her throughout her life. She left a
wonderful legacy that will live on in our memory.”
